The Door to the Future

Summary:

  • In this chapter of Chase the Lion, we begin with snowflakes. Wilson Bentley a schoolboy in Jericho, Vermont. He has a fascination with snowflakes when it snowed people would shelter themselves but Wilson wouldn't. He would eventually come to photograph 5381 different snowflakes over the course of his life back in 1885. He later died from pneumonia after walking six miles through a snowstorm.
  • This chapter titled, a door to the future, realizes how God opens doors for us to find our dream. Wilson died doing the thing he absolutely loved. We need to find a dream we would die for.
  • Steven Furtick's door, infamous pastor of our generation, was page 23 of Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire.
  • For Graham Green, one of the greatest writers of the twentieth century, his door opening was a compliment from a teacher.
  • When God closes a door, he normally opens another.

Biggest Takeaway:

  • We start dying the day we stop dreaming. And ironically, we start living the day we discover a dream worth dying for. If you haven't found your dream yet, surround yourself with people who have a dream. You might catch what they have because dreams are highly contagious.

Quotes:

  1. Don't underestimate the power of one compliment.
  2. "Life isn't about finding answers, it's about asking the questions."
