Counter Narratives

Application in your life:

  • We live in a culture that aims for 15 minutes of fame. Why don't we aim higher? To be at the top you must know what it's like to be at the bottom. Leadership stems from servanthood.
  • Nothing is more impressive than a down-to-earth dreamer who understands that leadership is first and foremost a servanthood.
  • Our life has a counter-narrative to us pursuing our own dreams. The other narrative we live is helping others pursue theirs. Servanthood is the quickest way to helping others discover their dreams.

Biggest Takeaway:

  • In a microwave society based on how many kills you get (Fortnite) and how many likes you get, it is hard to think of others. The best thing you can do for someone else is to include them in your story. A shared story of life is better than going solo. Even the Lone Ranger had Tonto.

Quotes:

  1. Believe in something greater than yourself.
  2. Jealousy stems from anger and failure.
