The Rabbit Room

Application in your life:

  • As stated before, your dream requires others. You need others around you to fully experience your own dream. This is titled The Rabbit Room because it is focused on a certain room. The Eagle and Child, is a seventeenth-century pub located at 49 st. Giles Street, Oxford, England. In this room, together, C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien discussed their ideas and thoughts to each other every Tuesday at lunch. They then both went to write novels that would sell in the millions.
  • Your potential will be determined by the people you surround yourself with. If you want to become better in a sport, you have to play someone better than you. If you want to succeed in business, school, or life you must surround yourself with others that know more than you and that can do more than you.

Biggest Takeaway:

  • Bad company corrupts good character, but good company helps you go from good to great. The true test of greatness isn't measured by your accomplishments. The true test of greatness is measured by the accomplishments of those you surround yourself with, and those who come after you.

 Quotes:

  1. Your inability to understand stems from a failure of imagination on your part.
  2. I need to be around people who make me feel small because their dreams are so big.

5 Dimensions of Win/Win

Key Points: It begins with character and moves toward relationships, out of which flow agreements. It is nurtured in an environment where structure and systems are based on Win/Win. And it involves process; we cannot achieve Win/Win ends with Win/Lose or Lose/Win means. Character There are three character traits essential to the Win/Win paradigm. Integrity, Maturity, Abundance Mentality.  Integrity is the values we place ourselves into. Maturity is the balance between courage and consideration.  Abundance Mentality is the paradigm that there is plenty out there for everybody. A character rich in integrity, maturity, and the Abundance Mentality has a genuineness that goes far beyond technique, or lack of it, in human interaction. If we search deeply enough within ourselves-beyond the scripting, beyond the learned attitudes and behaviors- the real validation of Win/Win, as well as every other correct principle, is in our lives.  Relationshi...

Are You A Gap Filler?

What is Gap Filler You May Ask?  A gap filler is someone who has the ability and awareness to see opportunities and challenges around them, then fill them.  When there is a gap in communication, someone has to fill the void.  When there is a gap in leadership, someone has to fill the void.  When there is a gap in love, someone has to fill the void. When there is a gap in work, someone has to fill the void. It is self-explanatory to understand that a gap filler, fills gaps.  It is also very easy to misunderstand the importance and strength it takes to be a gap filler. Practically this looks like covering a shift of another co-worker, looks like overcommunicating to others that may bring conflict upon yourself, taking the burden of hurt from others and their trama, as well as taking the blame knowingly when another leader falls short. This is a heavy burden sometimes because you have to be the glue that holds seemingly everything together. But, take heart, b...

A Dream Within a Dream

Summary:  In the second chapter of Chase the Lion,  we come to the Wright brothers and how they had a dream that was actually inspired by there dads interest in birds. They later came to be the first humans to fly.  Inception is another topic in how we are to perceive our dreams. Inception is a dream within a dream within a dream, in our non-fiction life we can look and see that as a sign that our dream necessarily doesn't come from us. God can expose our dreams to us through other individuals.  For the Wright brothers, it was a book they read when they were 29. It could be your parents, teachers, or coaches dream. It comes down to how you interact with other people, life is about relationships you never know who may plant a dream in you that is waiting to be revealed.  Our greatest legacy isn't our dream. Our greatest legacy is the next generation of dreamers that out dreams inspire--the dreams within a dream. The energy we spend on cr...
